Although the exact location of herds and river activity will always depend on rainfall and natural conditions, June and July are good months to watch wildebeest move.

Difficulty Level

Guests who are reasonably fit will be able to handle this safari better than guests who are very good at hiking. For short walks around lodges, cultural visits, and Zanzibar excursions, you should be ready for some uneven ground. Most of the activities will happen from a safari vehicle. The cultural experience with the Maasai will involve slow walking, and the Nakupenda Sandbank visit will involve getting on and off a boat on a tidal shore.

Some safari days will be very long, which will be more of a physical challenge than hard exercise. A number of game drives will last between five and eight hours, with stops for meals and to see wildlife. It may take several hours to make some land transfers, especially as the route goes deeper into the Serengeti. It's important to be okay with normal safari bumps because the roads inside protected areas can be rough.
