Frequently Uganda just called the "Pearl of Africa," but that doesn't really capture what it's like to travel within it. Some safari spots are known for their endless savannas or amazing wildlife concentrations, but Uganda will put you in the middle of a much bigger story. There are mountain gorillas in an old rainforest, chimpanzees calling in the trees, hippos swimming up to a boat, birds flying through wetlands, and communities living next to protected areas. Difficulty Level

It will be a moderate safari overall, with mountain gorilla trekking being the most physically demanding activity. To go on a gorilla trek, you need to be somewhat fit, and the trip can last anywhere from two to seven hours, depending on how the gorilla family moves and the conditions of the forest.

Forest paths can be rough, muddy, or even steep, so travelers should be able to handle them. Trekking poles will be helpful, and the group will usually decide how fast to walk. There will also be a some few of long road transfers on the safari, so guests should be ready to spend a lot of time in a comfortable safari vehicle.

Most cultural experiences, game drives, and boat activities won't require much physical work. Instead of hard hiking, walking and horseback riding around Lake Mburo will add a gentle form of active exploration.
